Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy is the practice of using natural oils extracted from the various parts of plants to enhance both psychological and physical well-being. The aroma of these essential oils are inhaled or the oils themselves are absorbed through the skin to promote healing and wellness.

There are a large number of essential oils available for aromatherapy. Each of these oils has its own healing characteristics. In aromatherapy massage, the essential oils are most often mixed with a carrier oil such as grape seed, olive, sweet almond, or apricot kernel oils. A relaxation massage might use lavender or bergamot essential oils, while a therapeutic massage for sore muscles may include peppermint or eucalyptus essential oils.
