There are a large number of essential oils available for aromatherapy. Each of these oils has its own healing characteristics. In aromatherapy massage, the essential oils are most often mixed with a carrier oil such as grape seed, olive, sweet almond, or apricot kernel oils. A relaxation massage might use lavender or bergamot essential oils, while a therapeutic massage for sore muscles may include peppermint or eucalyptus essential oils.
